Our Services

Dr Ng manages a high volume of fibroid cases each year. Fibroids are highly treatable with the following options:

Non-Surgical

Non-surgical fibroid treatments may help manage symptoms or shrink uterine fibroids without surgery. Suitability depends on your symptoms, fibroid characteristics and fertility goals.

  • Medication: Helps relieve heavy menstrual bleeding and period pain, although it does not permanently remove fibroids.
  • HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound): Non-invasive procedure that uses focused ultrasound energy to treat fibroids without surgical incisions.
  • UAE (Uterine Artery Embolisation): A minimally invasive procedure that blocks blood flow to fibroids, causing them to shrink over time.

What To Expect During Your Consultation

  1. 1. Review of Your Test Results

Dr Ng will review your symptoms, medical history and test results to better understand your condition.

  2. 2. Clinical Assessment

A pelvic examination or ultrasound may be recommended to assess the size, number and location of your uterine fibroids.

  3. 3. Clear Explanation of Your Condition

Dr Ng will take the time to explain the findings in detail and address any questions or concerns you may have.

  4. 4. Understanding Your Treatment Options

Based on your condition and goals, Dr Ng will advise on suitable treatment options, which may include non-surgical and surgical approaches.

  5. 5. Follow-Up Care Plan

A detailed follow-up plan will be discussed before the consultation ends, so you know what to expect before, during and after treatment.

Fibroid FAQs

Which fibroid treatment is suitable for me?

The most suitable fibroid treatment depends on the size, number and location of your fibroids, the severity of your symptoms and your fertility goals. Dr Ng will assess your condition and recommend suitable non-surgical or surgical treatment options.

Can uterine fibroids resolve on their own?

Uterine fibroids do not usually disappear on their own during the reproductive years, although some may remain stable in size. Fibroids often shrink after menopause as hormone levels decline.

Can fibroids affect fertility or pregnancy?

Many women with uterine fibroids can conceive naturally and have healthy pregnancies. However, certain fibroids may affect fertility or increase pregnancy-related risks, depending on their size and location.

How long does recovery take after fibroid surgery?

Recovery depends on the type of fibroid surgery performed. Minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopic myomectomy, generally involve a shorter recovery period of around 2–4 weeks, while open surgery may require 4–6 weeks or longer.
